The Institute of Greco-Roman Classics and Christian Humanities is dedicated to the study of the ancient Greek and Roman Classics and the Christian Humanities through the ages.
The Institute offers the student who already holds the B.A. degree, the Certificate of Greco-Roman Classics and Christian Humanities through the completion of an independent study under the supervision of a professor guiding the student in study, reserach and writing of a thesis concerning any topic in 1) the traditional Literae Humaniores degree, or 2) the works by Homer, Plato, Aristotle and Virgil in their original languages and in English translation, or 3) any topic in the Christian Humanities from the antiquity through the Renaissance.
In this program, there are two tracks: In the first track, students are trained to read these ancient works in their original languages. In the second track, while students may study Greek and Latin, they are not required to have competence in these languages. Both tracks focus on the traditional Great books of the ancient and medieval ages of Western civilization.
